What changes for your first day, and why.
Each swap keeps the job the movement does in the workout. The cues are what an O-SEA coach will say while you do it.
Clean and jerk: the pullDeadlift to the hip
Why this swap. Every clean starts as a deadlift. Owning the setup and the pull from the floor comes first.
Coach cues
- Bar over midfoot
- Hinge to grip
- Set your back
Clean and jerk: the cleanHang power clean
Why this swap. Starting at the hip removes the hardest part of the pull and teaches the jump and the catch on the shoulders.
Coach cues
- Start position
- First pull to the knees
- Jump through the hips
Clean and jerk: the jerkPush press
Why this swap. The jerk drives the bar overhead with the legs. The push press teaches the same dip and drive at a speed a beginner controls.
Coach cues
- Same rack as the strict press
- Straight down dip
- Violent leg drive
